About Akshaya
I grew up helping my parents cook. For the past ten years, I have been collaborating with creative friends with whom I shared a love for food from all parts of the country and the world. I have lived alone for the past three years (and counting!) and this has helped me take cooking from a necessity to a pastime and an outlet for my creativity.

You could be an expert in rolling round rotis or not know the difference between bread and a naan: consider this an experiment in taste and smell. Learn the joy of coming home to the smell of frying ginger-garlic paste, onions, and paneer, or the gentle aftertaste of a kurma cooked in ghee and coconut milk.
I was raised a vegetarian, and consequently, know how to play around with ingredients and spices that could rival any meat you choose. Vegans are welcome too! This could be your first step into a plant-based, cruelty-free lifestyle.
You can either pick a specific cuisine or a series of food items (I work well with both South and North Indian food) or we can design a lesson (or meal) plan suited to your requirements. If it is not Indian but general vegetarian/vegan food you want to learn about, that's cool too! I will teach you how to shop for the best ingredients, how to store them appropriately, and many other little tips and tricks to help your cooking become smoother and your food yummier. I also have experience with cooking and meal-prepping healthy (or healthier versions of your favourite) food.

Details
I will provide the utensils, and stove/oven if classes are hosted at my flat. As I am currently pursuing my Postgraduate degree (and paying a mountain of student loans!) I request my students to kindly provide the ingredients, which I will help them pick out. Don't worry, I'll make sure you get the best prices and quality! If I am required to travel, I request you to also cover the cost of the bus ticket. The food we prepare will be for you to take home-- or store for dinner!
