About Ritu
I am a MSc student of evolutionary and molecular biology. I took my BSc in Natural Sciences through Open University so relate to online study and what works best. I have been teaching in lockdown since March 2020, across 2 curricula. Because of lockdown my MSc, which I complete in September 2020, has also been remote - consequently I have organised study and revision groups with my MSc cohort and gained experience explaining concepts to Master's level students.

I am a single mother with 2 young kids of my own, who I home-schooled during lockdown. I now offer online tuition to GCSE and A-level biology students.
I offer exam preparation and readiness to students through a combination of working through the core concepts of the curriculum and applying these to past exam paper questions.
I firmly believe that the best learning happens through dialogue and like to encourage my students to engage with ideas. Science is all about asking "Why?" and I think questioning theory is really important if you are to understand and unlock what is presented to you. I take a systematic approach to enable a smooth unpacking of complex principles.
I am very interested in science communication and like to use video and online media examples of the theory in my tuition. These examples really help to take the theory off the paper and out into the field, to make biological sense. It makes learning more fun, particularly as we are currently all very much confined to home classrooms.
