About Iona
Hello, my name is Iona and I hold a BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences from University of Birmingham and MRes (Hons) in Biomedical Research from Imperial College London.
I have extensive experience tutoring students in Biology, Chemistry and Maths at a GCSE and iGCSE level.
I understand both the stress of sitting exams and the pressure to succeed. We will face this together. I aim to provide support throughout your academic journey and bring to the forefront your potential Through my interactive sessions I aim to empower you and enhance your abilities to give you a competitive streak which will help your application stand out.
I have extensive tutoring experience across all ages working with students of all educational needs including ADHD, Autism and Dyslexia. I aim to assess your style of learning and adapt my lessons to suit your needs. I have consistently received positive feedback from the students I've taught. I have an Enhanced DBS Certificate, dated 2022.

I will take on 2 roles as your child's tutor. First, a resource to help the child through homework assignments and explain challenging material in textbooks/school lessons. Second, act as a mentor to help the child manage their own learning in order that they may maximise their potential. I offer regular update sessions with parents to review their child's overall progress and provide detailed feedback on how their child is progressing and possible areas of improvement.
The best way to learn is through interactive lessons, which engage your child and aid focus. A typical lesson will gernerally include: discusssing key concepts, practicing exam questions tailored to the mark schems and quizzes to test knowledge. Typically sessions are 1 hour, however this can be extended were required. I offer both in person and online sessions.
My teaching style is interactive and dialogue-based, ensuring that your child has fully comprehend the material and has numerous opportunities to ask questions. Whether your child has Dyselxia, ADHD, ASD, or specific learning requirements, I am experienced in tailoring lessons to meet your unique needs and learning style.
I know it can be stressful and anxiety-provoking but I am here to guide both parent and child through their academic journey. Let's get started!
