About Alfie
Hello! I’m currently studying for an MSc in Immunology. I'm based in Glasgow with a strong academic background in biology and a genuine passion for teaching. Throughout my studies, I have developed a deep understanding of key biological topics such as cell biology, genetics, immunology, and biochemistry, and I enjoy helping others make sense of complex scientific ideas.
I want to teach because I know that biology can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when preparing for exams. My goal is to make challenging topics easier to understand by breaking them down into clear, manageable steps - personalising methods wherever I can. I focus on building both knowledge and confidence so that students not only improve their grades but also feel more comfortable approaching scientific problems. I emphasise inclusivity; offering tutoring for all students regardless of background or identity.
I take a professional and supportive approach to tutoring. Every lesson is carefully prepared and tailored to the student’s level, learning style, and academic goals. Whether you need help understanding difficult concepts, improving exam technique, or strengthening your overall biology knowledge, I will work with you in a patient and encouraging environment.
I work with students studying GCSE/National 5, A-level/Higher biology, and early undergraduate courses. I’m committed to helping each student reach their potential and develop a stronger interest in biology.

Currently studying for an MSc in Immunology at the University of Glasgow. I focus on making lessons clear, engaging, and exam-relevant. I aim to tailor each lesson to the student’s goals and learning style. I like to begin by quickly discussing with the student where they are, and what they need particular help with. This is to help to reinforce relevance and understanding rather than just memorisation.
A typical lesson would last 30-45 minutes, though I am very flexible and can be longer or shorter for your convenience. Lessons usually include a short recap, explanation of key concepts, guided practice, and review questions.
My high-level background in biology allows me to break down complex topics - from cell biology to ecosystems - into simple, understandable steps. I also support students with study strategies, revision planning, and exam technique.
Lessons are suitable for secondary school students (GCSE/National 5), A-level/Higher biology, and first-year university students who need support with foundational biological concepts. I aim to build both confidence and long-term understanding.
