About Isha
I have worked with students working towards their Foundation Degree in Health and Social Care, Early Years, BTEC, Access to Nursing and other short courses in Health, Social Care and Education and Management for over 10 years.
Information are given to students, in order to engage them and student centred learning is making sure that they are placed at the center of the teaching process. The student is always an active participant and responsible in contributing to their own learning.
I am aware that student learn in different ways and incorporating a range of strategies into my teaching is important. The model of artefacts for kinaesthetic learners formed the basis of the lesson. Group sessions give students the opportunity to move around the room and not remain static, thinking about the students learning needs.
I use questions to stimulate interaction throughout the lecture and to give feedback at the end and encourage learners to review the lesson.

I was a nurse for 9 years before working as a tutor, assessor, lecturering subjects around Health, Social Care, Early Years and Education for over ten years, passionate about education. Working with adult who want to work within Health, Social Care and Early Years settings .
Learning Outcomes form the basis of my sessions, making sure that the sessions are an exposition of the subject being delivered. I Present information in an oral presentation manner, intended to present the information and teach individual about Health, Social Care and Early Years. I ensure the start of a lesson starts with a promise how the individual will be better in understanding the subject, how they will be empowered by showing the value of the topic being taught.
The learning outcomes and aims are displayed which are reviewed during the sessions and at the end of the session. Individual are engaged by asking questions, use overhead projector, visual aids which help to direct the individual's attention and are important to reinforcement/support tools.
Visuals also help me to reach the individual to keep on time and on topic being taught. Eye contact and movement through out the session enable me to support individual who may not understand the subject being taught. I use a clear introduction and summary, design to be presented easily within the allocated time.
I do use appropriate handouts taking into consideration the learners knowledge base and level of knowledge needed on the subject. What are the key instructional points I want to include, instructional strategy to use and clear explanations, and how to handle questions.
What reference should I provide and if handouts are needed and what it should look like. I get to know the individual, and get their attention during the session, I recognize their attention span and plan an activity for the individual using visual aid, voice and movements. Making sure a conclusion is included in the lesson and the opportunity for the individual to give feedback and do something with the lecture material.
I captivate the students from the beginning, the 'plenary' is important . I also start each lesson with something short and something to engage the individual. I have learnt that organisation is everything, spending time thinking about the contents of the lecture provides me with the opportunity to review the information that need to be taught.
It also help me to give me time to think about the best method of delivery, power-point presentation , research, resources such as educational videos, you tube clips and articles. I am also conscious of the tone and pitch of my voice, it is important I maintain eye contact with the individual, using physical gestures and stay at the same level with the individual.
