About Teniola
Hi! I’m a Health Sciences student at Simon Fraser University with a strong background in high school Biology, Chemistry, and general Science. As a previous IB student myself, I know firsthand how overwhelming science can feel—but I also know how to simplify it and make it stick. I’ve worked with students through peer tutoring and volunteer mentoring, helping them build not just better grades but real confidence in science. I’m organized, patient, and genuinely passionate about helping others succeed. Whether you’re preparing for an exam or just trying to keep up in class, I’ll meet you where you’re at and guide you from there. My approach to tutoring is student-centered and results-focused. I break down complex scientific concepts into simple, relatable ideas using real-life examples, analogies, and visual aids. I assess each student's learning style—whether they’re a visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learner—and adapt my lessons accordingly. I also believe in active recall and spaced repetition to help retain information long-term, especially for content-heavy subjects like Biology.
A standard session begins with a quick check-in and warm-up (reviewing previous material or homework). Then we focus on one key topic or unit, breaking it down using diagrams, videos, or practice questions. I always incorporate student questions throughout the session to make it interactive. We wrap up with a mini review, summary points, and optional homework or quiz questions to reinforce the topic.
