About Gabrielle
I am a passionate student and a lover of art, history, classics and literature. I aim to inspire a love for engaging with study material and enhance students' ability to study with a more structured outline of course material and assignments. As a secondary school student, history, English, and art classes were the spaces in which I excelled and felt inspired. In University at UCD, I discovered my love for Classics and Archaeology, which progressed into taking on an M.A program after graduation. At UCD as an undergrad, I developed a great appreciation for Renaissance and Modern art, finding great immersion and escapism in the lectures I could attend and the assignments and reading beyond it. Some of my favorite artists are Botticelli, Bernini, Kahlo, Klint, and Waterhouse.
Beyond this, my love for ancient art is a very big part of my life, particularly when it comes to Archaic and Classical vase painting and sculpture. Concerning my area of interest, the Aegean Bronze Age is what I want to expand my expertise in. My thesis topic concerns Late Minoan-period ceramics and ritual implications within the Marine style of the Special Palatial tradition pottery. My M.A program has given me a much more refined grasp of methodology and more refined insight into specific areas of the ancient world, also allowing me to excavate for two seasons now at the site of Gortyn in South-central Crete.
