About Giana
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of Southampton, majoring in musical theatre and pop singing. I provide classical/ musical theatre/ pop singing, music theory, and Guzheng lessons both online/ face to face in Southampton and Eastleigh in English/ Cantonese/ Mandarin.
Since early 2024, I have been working as a self-employed Private Music Tutor, providing engaging 1-to-1 and small group music lessons for children aged 4 and above and adults. Lessons are conducted primarily in English (with Cantonese and Mandarin when needed), offering students a natural immersive language environment alongside their musical development.
In 2023, I was awarded First Place in two categories at the Southampton Festival of Music and Drama: Adult Solo – Songs from the Show and Adult Vocal Recital. I also coordinated the Early Years Music Ignited Programme held by the University of Southampton in 2024.

I welcome students of all ages and levels, from complete beginners to those preparing for examinations or competitions, and I am committed to nurturing a genuine love of music in every student I work with.
My approach is student-centred and adaptable. I take time at the start to understand each student's background, goals, and any challenges they face, so that every lesson is purposeful and enjoyable. For singing, I place great emphasis on vocal health, technique, and building confidence, particularly for younger or beginner students, while exploring different music genres and styles. For Guzheng, I balance traditional technique with an appreciation for the instrument's expressive range. As for music theory, I use a practical approach, linking theory directly to the pieces students are working on so that it feels meaningful rather than abstract.
