About Rachel
I have been working in special education for over 13 years. I have taught diverse groups of students with ADD/ADHD, autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, learning disabilities, slow learners, speech impairments, and non compliant behavior. My skills in differentiated instruction, assistive technology, and multi-sensory lesson planning allow me to meet the needs of every student.
I'm a highly energetic and enthusiastic individual, specializing in Psychology, Speech Therapy, Autism Movement Therapy, Jolly phonics and Occupational Therapy. Dedicated to providing the best education and care to children. Proficient in developing and implementing individual education program for each student (Classroom based). Able to identify and implement goals tailored to the student’s individual needs and abilities.
Experienced in coordinating with parents, teachers, teacher assistants, and various service providers that include speech, occupational therapy, aqua educators, yoga, taekwondo and physical therapists for students having special learning needs such as Autism, Down Syndrome, developmental delay, speech impairments and other learning disabilities.

Teaching and learning
1. Identify and adopt the most effective teaching approaches for SEN pupils.
2. Monitor teaching and learning activities to meet the needs of SEN pupils
3. Liaise with other schools to ensure continuity of support and learning when transferring SEN pupils
Recording and assessment
1. Set targets for raising achievement among SEN pupils and other groups as appropriate.
2. Collect and interpret specialist assessment and performance data and share with other staff as appropriate.
3. Set up systems for identifying SEN, and assessing and reviewing SEN provision. This includes creating and monitoring IEPs and provision maps with class teachers and learning support assistants.
4. Update the head teacher and governing body on the effectiveness of provision for SEN children.
5. Keep parents informed about their child's progress through individual meetings and at parents’ evenings.
6. As necessary, prepare applications for Statements of Educational Needs alongside the Head teacher; co-ordinate and attend annual reviews.
7. Make applications for additional support, time
8. Evaluate the effectiveness of provision of wave interventions.
