About Merve
Merve Tekin : She is the Co-founder and manager of the architecture community OBARUHU, a caretaker of and lover of mother earth. Since 2011 she is on a journey of becoming a bio-architect who aims to create energy-efficient, sustainable and healthy spaces with the unlimited flexibility of earth and with the power of oneness as a community. Through her experiences, she realizes that mother earth is the greatest healer and the spaces which have been built by earth are increasing the healing power of forms and elements around us. Through the knowledge of Vaastu Shastra, she found that what she believed in her heart, were exist in ancient times. So since then, she is studying to understand and feel the unique human body and its relationship with space and natural patterns through traditional art forms and practices like Yoga, Kalari, Odissi, and Vaastu Shastra. So she can be a better medium to give healthy shapes to the spaces and forms that we need as human beings. She believes that we can create our own realities in this limitless universe. So let us come together and create the life we are seeking for.

VAASTU SHASTRAS BIO-CLIMATIC DESIGN NATURAL MATERIALS DESIGN RETREATS COMMUNITY CENTRIC EMBODIED SPACE Obaruhu Bio-Architecture & Art, an evolving collective dedicated to community-oriented natural building. Over the years, Obaruhu has served as educators and advocates, sharing knowledge on sustainable architecture and collective living. The collective has also collaborated with families and communities to design and build homes together, fostering a hands-on, participatory approach to living spaces. Merve Tekin, co-founder of Obaruhu, teaches architecture as an embodied, participatory experience, blending traditional wisdom with modern sustainable design. Her approach integrates Vaastu Shastra, bioclimatic principles, and natural materials, fostering a deep understanding of how space, movement, and energy interact. Workshops are structured around experiential learning, combining hands-on building, movement practices, and group discussions. Participants engage in design retreats where they co-create with nature, applying holistic methods like council gatherings, nonviolent communication, and meditation to shape their environments. As an educator, Merve emphasizes inclusivity, intuition, and collaboration, guiding individuals and communities—whether beginners or experienced designers—toward creating sustainable, community-driven spaces.
