About Avuya
Over the past two years, from January 2021 to February 2023, I served as a Temporary Lecturer at Rhodes University in Grahamstown. In this role, I had the opportunity to teach Mathematics for Sciences, delving into fundamental concepts of calculus such as limits, derivatives, and integration. Additionally, I instructed students in the Theory of Finance, covering topics like simple and complex interest, annuities, loans, and the basics of calculus. My responsibilities extended beyond teaching; I was actively involved in planning lectures, conducting research, and developing educational materials. I also managed assessments, including tests, assignments, and exams, and provided administrative support while responding to student inquiries. My commitment to education led me to deliver both face-to-face and online classes, attend staff meetings, and invigilate examinations. Since March 2023, I have transitioned into the role of a Network Engineer Planner at OpenServe in Gqebera. In this position, my primary focus revolves around planning and optimizing lines of communication, including Internet infrastructure such as fiber installations, phone lines, and networks. I assess the feasibility of projects, considering company resources and expected returns, and produce efficient planners to guide our work. My journey in academia, particularly my MSc in Applied Mathematics, has equipped me with valuable skills in artificial intelligence, deep learning neural networks, and machine learning. I have applied these skills to various projects, ranging from medicinal plants identification to precipitation forecasting, demonstrating my ability to adapt mathematical knowledge to real-world challenges. My educational background, which includes a BSc Honours Degree in Information Systems and Applied Mathematics, further enriched my expertise in areas like software development and mathematical modeling essential for machine learning. Beyond my professional pursuits, I am actively engaged in sports, particularly football, and I also chair the Chizele Sport Association (NPO), where we use sports as a means to combat crime.
