About James
My name is James. I'm a History undergrad student at Lancaster University. I'm originally from Manchester. I love music, though I'm hopeless with instruments. Current favourite artists would probably be Clairo, Tyler the Creator and The Smiths. I'm also a big film geek. Anything from Star Wars to Taxi Driver, I've probably seen it and could talk anyone's ear off about it.
Most importantly, I'm very patient and very laid back. I understand the stresses of exams as they weren't so long ago for me, and I get a lot of satisfaction from helping someone unlock their potential.

My teaching methods really depend on the student's needs and learning styles. I like to discuss the different topics with them in an engaging way that gets them thinking critically as a historian, asking questions and feeds an interest in the topic. Engagement is really the name of the game and I believe that the key to learning a topic is feeling immersed in it. My lessons start at an hour but with a short 5 minute break at the halfway point (50-55 minutes of work) and I teach ages 15 - 18.
I have experience with teaching history to a small focus group at GCSE, so I am comfortable with approaching this role
