About Brendan
I am a history student from Trinity College Dublin, but I am originally from the United States. For as long as I can remember, I have been passionate about history and its ability to teach us far more about our world than just memorizing events and dates. I have knowledge in several periods of history, such as American History, Early Modern Europe, 19th-20th century Imperialism, and much more. I can offer students not only a passionate understanding of a topic, but teach them skills that will aid them in the future.

My teaching method is adaptable where I first model my lesson plans to best fit the students I am assigned to; my first priority is to ensure the student is taking a lesson that responds to them. When starting a lesson concerning a historical period, I would begin by giving broad stokes and summaries of the period and then work from there to cover smaller sections and questions. My goal by the end would be that the student can understand the intricacies of a period in an easy to understand manner. Furthermore, I would engage the student in debate and conversation about issues that become relevant as to develop both their critical thinking skills and their knowledge about the period. As "test" for the lesson, I may ask the students to write a short essay to answer a question or theme of the lesson as to improve writing and analysis skills. I would then help the student improve their essay writing skills so they can produce concise, detailed arguments.
