About Rachel
Hi! I’m Rachel, a History student at Washington University in St. Louis with over four years of tutoring and mentoring experience. I’ve worked with students of different ages and backgrounds and love helping students feel more confident in subjects that initially seem overwhelming.
As a history student myself, I’m especially passionate about making history feel interesting, relevant, and approachable rather than simply something to memorize. I’m patient, encouraging, and always happy to adjust my teaching style to what works best for each student. Whether you need help understanding a difficult topic, preparing for an exam, or strengthening your writing and analysis skills, I’m here to help you feel more confident in your work.

I believe history should feel like a story, not a list of dates and names to memorize. My lessons focus on breaking down complex topics into clear, manageable ideas and helping students understand the bigger picture. I use discussion, examples, timelines, and connections between events to make material easier to remember.
A typical lesson might begin with reviewing what the student already knows, introducing a new topic, working through key events and themes together, and ending with practice questions or a quick review.
I tutor students at different levels and can help with classwork, essays, studying, and exam preparation. I bring both strong subject knowledge and a patient, student-focused approach.
