Rebecca has taught US History and Western Civilization classes to students in junior high, high school, community college, and 4-year institutions for over 7 years. Her passion for History and Writing is palpable, and this in turn motivates her students. Rebecca’s teaching style forces students to reflect on “why” in addition to “what,” reinforcing critical thinking skills rather than rote memorization. She applies multiple teaching methods to ensure material is absorbed by students with different learning styles. Above all, she is knowledgeable, patient, and kind while still expecting a lot from her students. As an expert on the golden age of piracy, her three published works, numerous historical podcast interviews, and repeat appearances on television documentaries only serve to inspire her students to realize their own academic pursuits.
