About Hector
My backgrounds is humble. I went to 3 very decent schools were I was encouraged to think individually but also work within groups. I was tested to explore my-own original thoughts and inspired to independently research my own favourite parts of history. I received A's at school as well as other subjects from GCSE to A-level and I am currently on track to secure a 1st class degree at a Russel Group University for History and Arcaheolgy. I have a well rounded knowledge of history as a broad topic but am particularly familiar within Medieval to Early Modern European History from the end of the Romans all the way to Renaissance England.

I believe the best tools for history learning that worked for me are looking at history periods like a story. To begin with you need to treat your introductory fact as you would first impressions of a person, such as dates, place names and individuals, much the same as har colour, size and gender. As you delve in further, you look at the characteristics of events, such as their causes and impacts, the duration of events within a thematic sense. As your knowledge fully develops you can understand patterns within individuals and events, place events and individuals into further context, bring in historiography and inhibit your own original thought. However, the approach must always be to look at writing about history as a up-side down pyramid, gradually becoming more broad and more substantial in progression.
