About Rev Majadi
Throughout my diverse career, teaching has always been at the forefront of my passion. When I teach, I aim to empower my students to discover more about themselves and the world around them through research. My expertise extends beyond just teaching the history of Africa to encompass the cultural and spiritual connections between Africa and the African diaspora. My teaching style is rooted in Constructivist pedagogy, which entails partnering with my students and guiding them based on their interests and understanding. Years ago I engaged some youth from a small private school in making a comparative analysis between W.E.B. Dubois, Marcus Garvey, and Booker T Washington. The small, private school located in Birmingham, Alabama has an African American History track and ties in real-life community-based situations into the curriculum. I encouraged the young people to think about how the three men affected the history of the Civil Rights struggle in Birmingham. The youth looked at their own lives and conditions in the city and were able to trace the history of the entire state to the works of Booker T. Washington and Tuskegee University and Washington's influence on Jamaica's hero Marcus Garvey. I use Thorndike's law of effect by centering that each lesson learned is positive, i will also prioritize their questions while introducing new ways of thinking and learning.
