Lesson Plan (60 minutes)

1. Warm-up & Conversation (10 minutes)

Activity: Casual conversation to switch into "French mode."

Goal: To build rapport and activate existing vocabulary.

Example: "Alors, comment s'est passée ta journée ? As-tu fait quelque chose d'intéressant ce matin ?" (So, how was your day? Did you do anything interesting this morning?)

Tutor's Role: Correcting errors gently, introducing synonyms, and encouraging full sentences.

2. Review & Feedback (10 minutes)

Activity: Go over the short homework from the previous lesson (e.g., a writing exercise on weekend plans).

Goal: To reinforce previous learning and ensure retention.

Process:

Student reads their text aloud.

Together, we identify and correct 2-3 key errors.

I provide positive feedback on what was done well and introduce one new, more natural way to express an idea from the text.

3. Introduction of New Topic (15 minutes)

Topic: Reflexive Verbs for Daily Routines (se lever, se doucher, se habiller, etc.).

Goal: To present new grammar and vocabulary in context.

Process:

Context: We look at a short comic or infographic about a person's morning.

Discovery: I ask guided questions to help the student deduce the meaning of key verbs.

Explicit Grammar: A clear, concise explanation of the structure (e.g., "Je me lève," "Tu te douches") using a shared screen.

Controlled Practice: Quick, oral drills to conjugate a few key verbs across different pronouns.

4. Active Practice & Application (15 minutes)

Goal: To move from understanding to using the new language.

Activities (choose one or mix):

Listening: A short audio clip of someone describing their routine. Followed by comprehension questions.

Speaking: "Décris ta routine idéale le weekend" (Describe your ideal weekend routine). I provide sentence starters and vocabulary support.

Role-play: A scenario like "You are explaining your morning to a French host family."

5. Consolidation & Wrap-up (10 minutes)

Goal: To summarize the lesson and set clear goals for independent practice.

Process:

Quick Recap: "Alors, qu'est-ce qu'on a appris aujourd'hui ?" (So, what did we learn today?). Student summarizes the key points.

Address Questions: Final opportunity for the student to ask about anything unclear.

Assign Homework: A small, relevant task, such as:

Option A (Writing): Write a short paragraph (5-6 sentences) about your evening routine.

Option B (Speaking): Send a 1-minute voice note describing what you do to get ready for bed.

Option C (Interactive): Complete a short online matching game on reflexive verbs.

How This Plan Adapts:
For Beginners (A1): More time on pronunciation and vocabulary, using more images and English instructions. The grammar would be simplified (e.g., just "je" and "tu" forms).

For Advanced (C1): The topic would be more abstract (e.g., "The Sociology of French Daily Life"). The lesson would focus on debate, nuance, and mastering complex sentence structures.

For Exam Prep (DELF/DALF): The activities would mirror the exam format precisely (e.g., a 10-minute guided speaking exercise or a timed reading comprehension).
