About Sohum
I’m a motivated high school student with a strong passion for STEM, especially biology and mathematics. Over the years, I’ve competed in national-level science and math competitions, earning top placements in Science Olympiad, Science Bowl, AMC, and other academic challenges. Alongside my own studies, I’ve dedicated over 50 hours to tutoring and mentoring younger students in math and science, helping them build both confidence and problem-solving skills. I enjoy making complex concepts more approachable by breaking them into simple, clear steps and showing how they connect to the real world. Whether it’s preparing for competitions, strengthening fundamentals, or tackling challenging coursework, I love sharing my knowledge and encouraging curiosity in every student I work with.

My approach as a tutor is centered on building both understanding and confidence. I don’t just walk students through problems; instead, I ask guiding questions that encourage them to think critically and discover solutions on their own. When sharing my knowledge, I focus on clear explanations, active engagement, and personalized support. Every student learns differently, so I adapt my teaching style—sometimes using visuals, analogies, or step-by-step walkthroughs—to match their needs. My goal is not just to help students get the right answer, but to help them feel confident tackling similar problems in the future.
