About Olowoyo
My name is Olamide Olowoyo, popularly known as Coach Ola. I am a chess coach and child educator, a student of Lagos State University, the founder of Scholars Chess Ipaja, and a chess instructor with Chess in Slums Africa.
Over the past few years, I have trained more than 500 students in the game of chess, with several of them going on to win both local and national championships. My passion for chess and for working with children drives me to create meaningful impact through the game. I take pride in the quality of my coaching and the results my students achieve.

Learning chess, then going from a beginner to a strong chess player can be tough and sometimes discouraging, especially because of all the losses you have to go through. That’s why the way I train is different. I help my students fall in love with the game, so chess becomes more than just a hobby. It turns into something they genuinely want to work at.
With the right mindset and discipline, plus my constant guidance, detailed lesson plans, and firm but supportive coaching, I take average players and help turn them into really strong ones. ♟️
