About Sonny
My name is Sonny, I am a full-time private tutor and lifelong learner. I have been teaching now for almost 8 years, and I am looking forward to teaching for many more!
I am passionate about working with people. I believe that everyone has the potential to achieve great things academically, it simply takes a caring instructor to understand the individual needs of the student. I relish the challenge of trying to figure out how each of my students learns best, and I am always happy to tailor my lessons to fit the needs of each individual.
Okay, so a bit about me:
I graduated from UCL (University College London) with a BSc in Biochemistry. Since a young age I have been fascinated with the natural world, and I have always been fascinated by numbers. As such, Maths and Sciences were always my favourite subjects, although I very much enjoyed geography, physical education and IT as well. I am obsessed with learning new things, and I strongly believe that the classroom should not be the only place where a student learns. I therefore engaged in private tuition from the early age of 17. I love helping other people achieve, and more importantly I love to see students find a passion for learning which they previously never knew they had!
How I work:
My No.1 priority when working with a student is their comfort. I dislike the traditional teacher-student hierarchy, and prefer instead to speak with my students as if we were colleagues. Once this achieved, it is astonishing how much more quickly a student will learn. This also makes it easier for me to determine how the student best learns. Some students learn visually, by diagram or by presentation. Others learn best through conversation. Others learn best by writing notes. Everyone is different, and so I am happy to alter the way I teach to cater for each individual.
What I teach:
I currently teach a wide variety of students at ages ranging from 8 years old to 20 years old. I teach all sciences and maths up to GCSE level. I also teach Maths, Biology and Chemistry to full A-level.

Perfect! Brilliant tutor
Sonny is a wonderful, enthusiastic and kind tutor. He helped me with both Chemistry and Biology and although I previously struggled, lessons with Sonny allowed me to feel comfortable and confident. He is always prepared, and is willing to do whatever it takes to help you out! Highly reccommend :)

If you need a tutor who is clear, straightforward and very patient. Sonny is an excellent choice. Sonny is very personable and made such a difference for my sons confidence and attitude to maths and science. From the first lesson it was obvious that he knew his subjects, and his style of teaching was perfect for my teenage son, in that he treated him like a young adult - this was a really important factor. He spent time to help with technique and recognise what was important to get down. He was reliable and communicated really well with us. I have no hesitation recommending him.

I have found Sonny to be an excellent tutor. My son was not very good or interested in learning, but was able to understand the Maths that Sonny taught him, he had very good communication skills aimed at my son's age and ability levels, he even kept my son's attention for a period of 3 hours in one go which I though was astounding. My son even told me how useful and easy to understand Sonny was, Sonny is very patient and ensured that Daniel (my Son) understood the text before moving on to another element of Maths. He also gave my son tutoring with the sciences but we only had 1 week to brush up on this revision but again daniel found it very useful too.
Sonny is very personable, punctual and curteous too. I have already recommended him to friends and would rate him very highly for any future employerSonny helped Roman to get ready to his 11+ tests in maths. Starting at a rather low level Roman made an amazing progress in only 5 weeks of studying with Sonny. Moreover he was always looking forward to his lessons. Sonny is very good at explaining the most difficult material and make it interesting for his student, he is also very responsible and reliable.
Sonny is a great tutor. He always comes prepared, on time and has an extensive folder of supporting materials. We are very-very pleased with his work. Thank you!
