About Margarida

- What kind of experience do you have? I have a solid orchestral background having held the position of Associate Principal Double Bass at the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) for years. I currently freelance around the U.K. with orchestras such as Scottish Chamber Orchestra and BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. Additionally I have held trials with the orchestra of the Royal Opera House, BBC Symphony, Philharmonia and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Past freelance regular collaborations also include the London Philharmonic and London Symphony Orchestras, as well as English Chamber Orchestra and Britten Sinfonia. I enjoy playing solos and chamber music just as much and give regular recitals in the U.K. and Portugal, my home country. I have been teaching the double bass privately since 2007. Additionally, I have at Sistema Scotland (Big Noise), an organisation that uses music as a social intervention tool. Past teaching experience also includes: Double Bass Lecturer at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) - 2019/2020 Double Bass guest tutor at Glasgow University (2020/2021) - Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate? PVG check up-to-date - Where did you train? I teach all levels from complete beginners to graduate students who have left music college and want to continue with their double bass lessons and prepare auditions, further studying entrance exams, etc... - Which subject(s) do you teach? Classical double bass - Tell me about your qualifications. MPerf classical double bass, 1st class - 2013 (Royal College of Music, RCM: 2012/13 rising star) BMus (Hons) classical double bass, 1st class - 2011 (Guildhall School of Music and RCM) MSc in Psychology - 1st class - 2022 (Manchester Metropolitan University) current PhD researcher at Guildhall School of music - How much do you charge? £50 an hour £30 half an hour - Where do you teach? North London - When are you available? Lessons are scheduled by mutual availability between student (and their parents) and myself. - Which ages and levels do you teach? all ages and grades - Which qualifications do you prepare your students for? ABRSM & Trinity Guildhall board exams, auditions (i.e. youth orchestras, professional orchestras) and any examination the student wants to put him/herself through - Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.
