About Alexis
I am a high school history teacher that works with students on a daily basis ranging from 13 to 18 years old. I am confident in my ability to convey knowledge effectively and adapt my lessons to best suit the students learning needs. I also pride myself on working closely with students to find what they are passionate about in the subject matter and helping them to develop a lifelong love of learning. I am ready and willing to work hard and do what I need to do to ensure that the students I work with are best set up for success and feel confident that they have learned something when they are done working with me.

My approach to teaching includes a collaborative "Experience One" model that offers the students an opportunity to engage in activities like professionals in the field. This looks like doing research, reading, writing, and having complex discussions like a historian or reading maps and collecting geographic data like a professional geographer. Students will also get the opportunity to engage in a collaborative learning environment with me where we will work together to learn new things, ask complex questions and discover new and exciting things in the world of social studies. My lessons will have less lecture material and focus more on working with the student to approach the subjects that they have challenges with through primary document exploration, other readings, and writing.
