About Sam
I’m a 26-year-old Texan with a passion for world travel and human history. My long-term goal is to live in Southeast Asia, Japan, or Korea so I can experience the cultures I study firsthand. You might wonder why I’m 26 and still an undergraduate—after high school, I took six years away from school to figure out my own direction. I see that time as a strength. It gave me a grounded perspective that goes beyond academics, and it allows me to connect with students in a real, relatable way.
Outside of studying and tutoring, I’m a big college football fan (Hook ’em Horns—this is the year they win it all...), a basketball fan, and yes, I’m a gamer. These interests help me connect with students and bring energy and personality into my teaching.

As a tutor, my approach to teaching history goes beyond memorizing names and dates. I believe history is the story of how we arrived at the world we live in today. Everyday things—cell phones, televisions, computers, video games—didn’t just appear. They evolved through real events, real people, and real innovations. Understanding that journey makes history meaningful, relatable, and even fun.
At the same time, I know not every student is looking for a grand historical adventure. If your goal is simply to pass the class and make it to summer break, I’m here for that too. I was that student once, so I completely understand. My job is to meet you where you are and help you succeed!
