About Michiel
I was a youth chess club for many years, was regional speed chess champion among youth and I am now among the best 4% chess players on chess.com. Taught ultimate beginners (up to rating of 850), recreational chess players (up to rating 1200) and intermediate chess players (rating up to 1500).

I've been teaching chess for some time in which I try to find a balance between hard theory (openings, tactics, etc) and soft theory (instinct, strategy, time management, etc). This balance is unique to each player. Some students are more creative, emotional chess players, while others want to calculate everything 'mathematically'. I try to take into account the personality of the student. Because chess is a sport that takes place in the brain of an individual, not so much on the board. The aim of my curriculum is that the student will play more and more interesting games, by becoming a more conscious player. "There are no stupid moves, but there are bad ones."

Deze man kan (heel) goed schaken.. Maar lesgeven kan ie nog beter.
Wat maakt hem zo goed dan? Geen idee, maar na elke les vertrek ik met nieuwe inzichten en vooral ook met nieuw enthousiasme.
Ik heb hem te werk gezien met senioren en met kids. Het is altijd leuk.
Aanrader!Ik heb al een aantal schaaklessen gevolgd bij Michiel. Hij is erg geduldig, legt alles goed uit en weet goed aan te sluiten bij mijn niveau. Tevens geeft hij altijd positieve en opbouwende feedback waar ik echt iets mee kan! Voor mij geen andere schaakleraar meer!
