As a student of Demian’s for nearly ten years, I cannot speak highly enough of him as a teacher, mentor, and role model.

Not only does Demian know virtually everything about drumming — from technique to style to history — but he has the ability to explain it to anyone, from a five-year-old kid to a grown adult. I’ve taken lessons from Demian in both individual and group settings, and have seen firsthand his ability to cater to the needs of each individual student. He understands that everyone has different learning styles, and is able to teach his students in the manner that most appeals to them.

When I was Demian’s student, he helped me come out of my shell and take chances. I was always a bit shy and nervous when I was a kid, but Demian encouraged me to try new songs and new musical styles. Especially as a girl playing an instrument that is dominated by boys, Demian always made me feel comfortable and safe. As I got older, he supported me in taking my passion for music beyond the instrument to start working on the business side of the industry. Demian somehow knew exactly how to push me and how hard he could — he never overstepped, but he never understepped either. It was exactly what I needed as a kid and as a young adult.

To this day, Demian still remains a role model for me. He taught me the power of taking risks, pursuing my passion, positive visualization, and how to cope with performance anxiety. Learning how to deal with performance anxiety manifested itself in so many other areas of my life. From the little areas of pressure as a child (projects, reports, homework, college applications) to those of an adult (job interviews, paying bills, handling difficult people), his lessons have helped carry me through.

So yes, Demian is an exceptional drum teacher. But for me he was far more than that, which is something that is rare to find in a coach and priceless when you do. Taking lessons from Demian was an amazing decision for me not just as a drummer, but as a person too.

Demian was my drum teacher for several years as a teenager. Not only is Demian a fantastic drummer and teacher, but he's also an extremely thoughtful and upstanding person who cares deeply about his craft and his students. Many of the most impactful lessons I learned with Demian had less to do with drumming than they did about what it means to be a good musician, teammate, and person. Despite this, he is not preachy, he's easy to talk to, and he's always been flexible to adapt to whatever I wanted to learn about - all while crafting a lesson plan that would honor my interests while expanding my skillset. Cannot recommend enough.

Absolutely. He was always there if I needed someone to talk to. He made teaching so much fun. He was very good at discussing parts that would always confuse me. He always gave me words of encouragement which totally boosted confidence not only as musician but as a person
