About Ian
I am currently a teacher in the Chattanooga area. I am currently working as a music teacher at an elementary school with an active music program. I also teach percussion and do sound design with the nationally recognized Signal Mountain Marching Band. In 2024, the percussion section won the high percussion award at the State of Tennessee Division II Marching Band Championship. In 2021, the band was a semifinalist at the Bands of America National Championship. When I was in college I participated with the Chattanooga Independent Percussion Ensemble and received a silver medal at the WGI World Championship. As a sound designer, my music has amassed 1 million plays.

I will teach any student a comprehensive lesson using percussion instruments: Drumset, Marimba, Vibraphone, Xylophone, Auxiliary, Snare Drum, 2 mallet technique, and 4 mallet technique. I also teach sound design for MainStage and Logic through stock and third-party plug-ins. My lessons teach a varied repertoire for elementary, middle, high, and adult students. At a typical lesson, we will focus on learning a piece of music and answer any questions the student has gathered based on their practice. My goal is to make lessons fun and relaxing while pushing your boundaries for musical improvement. Many of my students have tried out for honor bands and drum corps with success. I am an active teacher in my community and hope to help you pursue your passion for music.
