About Mike
I have been tutoring for a year. I was able to raise my student's math grade from a D to an A- during that time. I try to establish a good relationship with the pupil so that they can feel comfortable learning the basics and can realize that math is not as scary as it may appear!

I am a retired Navy Officer and possess a Master's degree in Mathematics . I have done online tutoring in the past and my first pupil brought his grade up from a D to A-. I love the chance to make Math fun! Many people find all of the X's, Y's, etc., scary (I know I did!). But with a little bit of pushing, I can make the pupil realize that it is not as difficult as they thought.
My technique is simple: I don't tell the pupil the answer to any specific problem, I encourage them to find it on their own. I emphasize the methodology and if they do not come up with the right solution we walk through the steps so that they learn what their mistake was and how to fix it. In my opinion, people learn more from their mistakes than their success. I try to establish a great relationship with the pupil and make math fun!
