About the lesson

I have been a chartered librarian working in colleges, schools and universities for over 20 years. My teaching experience has been linked to supporting student's ability to locate, synthesise and evaluate resources available to suppport them in their studies. I believe education is about teaching students, not subjects. It is about engaging students in their learning, and maximizing the potential of each and every child. Education is about providing students with opportunities to be challenged and still succeed.
I tend to be a positive person. This helps me to build a rapport with students, generate their enthusiasm and maintain their interest and help when the going gets tough. My preference is to make things happen, so I am proactive, a catalyst (if necessary) to help learners get going on a course. I recognise when action needs to be taken and take it. I also understand the needs of each learner and adapt to their timeframes as far as possible. I am persistent; I keep at things and stop learners from drifting away. I also am competent to deal with any technical or other problems. I am also intuitive, able to work on my own initiative and assertive. I have worked with students from primary, secondary and tertiary levels, including adults and those for whom English was an aditional language.
