About Taylor

I am currently a CRNA student at UT Health Houston, originally from Austin, Texas. My academic journey has taken me from Colorado State, where I completed my undergraduate degree, to Concordia, where I earned my nursing degree. Now, I am pursuing my passion for nurse anesthesia at the graduate level. Outside of my studies, I enjoy spending time with my two dogs and cat, and I am excited to be newly married as I embark on this next chapter in both my personal and professional life.

Find out more about Taylor

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I've always loved teaching and helping others learn. During my undergraduate studies, I served as the Academic Chair of my sorority, which allowed me to support my peers academically and foster a culture of learning. While I was in nursing school, I tutored students a few semesters behind me, and I found so much joy in watching their confidence grow as they mastered difficult concepts. Tutoring is deeply rewarding-I love being a part of someone's journey toward achieving their goals.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I specialize in nursing and related sciences, including biology and pharmacology. I'm passionate about helping students develop strong study habits and teaching them effective learning strategies tailored to their needs. I especially enjoy breaking down complex topics into simpler, more digestible pieces-turning intimidating material into something understandable and even enjoyable. While some dense topics can be less exciting, I always try to find ways to make them relatable and easier to grasp.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

One of my biggest inspirations was my undergraduate biology professor. She brought incredible passion to every lecture and genuinely wanted us to succeed. Her energy and dedication made a lasting impression on me, and I strive to bring that same passion to my tutoring sessions. I want my students to feel empowered, supported, and inspired to believe in their ability to succeed-just like she made me feel.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

A good tutor must be compassionate, patient, and adaptable. Every student learns differently, so it's important to adjust your teaching style to meet their needs. Many students seek tutoring because they're struggling-and in those moments, they don't just need academic support, they need encouragement. Helping students feel seen, understood, and motivated can make all the difference in their educational journey.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

One of my biggest academic challenges was organic chemistry. As someone who typically earned A's, it was discouraging to work so hard and still struggle to understand the material. It pushed me to reevaluate how I studied and helped me discover my true learning style. That experience taught me perseverance and humility-and it's made me a better tutor. I know how it feels to be overwhelmed, and I can help students find new ways to approach difficult topics.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

School is tough-there are moments of burnout and exhaustion, and it's easy to feel lost. I've definitely had those times myself. But keeping your long-term goals in mind can help you push through. For me, the dream of becoming a nurse anesthetist keeps me going. I'm inspired by the opportunity to provide compassionate care to patients during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. That purpose is what fuels my academic and professional journey.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

I'm deeply passionate about both nursing and teaching. I love helping others achieve their goal of becoming a nurse. It's incredibly motivating to support the next generation of healthcare providers. Nursing is a demanding field, but it's also one of the most impactful. Nurses are essential to patient care and to driving innovation and empathy in healthcare. Being able to teach and inspire future nurses is one of the most fulfilling parts of what I do.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering this interview question :-P)?

I bring years of tutoring experience, a strong academic background in health and science, and a deep understanding of different learning styles. I'm committed to helping students not only succeed but thrive. I tailor each session to the individual, and I bring enthusiasm, empathy, and knowledge to every lesson. My ultimate goal is to help students feel confident and capable, and to empower them to reach their full potential.
