About Tim
I would start my course like a traditional language course: teach my students basic terms that they would need to engage in basic conversations, which would include the following: introductions, ordering food, and asking for directions.
Unlike traditional courses however, I would teach my students using real sources rather than textbook material. This would help my students avoid using outdated lingo that may lead to general confusion in conversation.

I would teach English as a second language. My background in Mandarin Chinese and experience with translation and English proficiency courses gives me back-hand experience with assisting individuals for whom English is their second language.
In providing eager language learners with the basic information they need to build their language capabilities, I would encourage them to apply the knowledge they obtain through my courses to real-world applications. A critique I have of how languages are traditionally taught is they often lack content that is structured to allow them to unlock their full potential in the target language.
