About Isla
With ten years of teaching experience and a lifetime of performing, I guide students to explore music as both craft and personal expression. My approach balances technical development with creative exploration, helping students grow in skill, artistry, and confidence. I emphasize understanding, versatility, and personal style. Lessons are customized to suit each student’s goals and interests, ensuring that learning remains engaging, practical, and inspiring. I also draw from my experience performing and composing to provide real-world musical perspective. Outside teaching, I perform, record, and collaborate with musicians across genres, bringing dynamic experience and insight into lessons. My focus is on helping students connect deeply with their instrument, fostering growth, creativity, and lasting passion for music.

My guitar lessons focus on developing both technical skill and expressive artistry. Each session covers chord progressions, scales, fingerstyle techniques, rhythm, and improvisation, with lessons tailored to each student’s level and musical goals. Beginners establish solid foundations, while intermediate and advanced learners refine tone, phrasing, stylistic interpretation, and creative expression.
I integrate ear training, short composition projects, and musical analysis to develop students’ understanding and musicianship. Lessons encourage experimentation, helping learners interpret music thoughtfully and creatively while mastering essential technical skills. Each class is structured to build confidence, precision, and expressive capability.
By combining discipline with creativity, students gain the ability to perform confidently, improvise naturally, and develop a unique musical voice. The goal is not only proficiency but also authentic personal expression through the instrument.
