About Ilan
I'm a passionate guitar tutor with over 12 years of experience teaching students of all levels, from complete beginners to advanced players. I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Guitar Studies, where I deepened my skills in performance, composition, and music theory. My journey with the guitar has been both personal and professional, and I still compose and perform regularly across a variety of styles. Teaching, for me, is about more than just technique—it's about helping students discover their own voice through music. I believe the guitar is a powerful tool for creativity and a lifelong companion for expression. My lessons blend technical skill-building with creative exploration, whether it's mastering a new scale or writing your first song. I enjoy working with beginners who are just picking up the instrument and guiding them with patience and encouragement. I also challenge advanced musicians to expand their range, refine their tone, and deepen their musical understanding. Every student has a different story, and I tailor my teaching to support individual goals and interests. My goal is to make music meaningful and fun while building solid foundations. I foster a positive, open environment where students feel confident to grow. Whether you want to play for yourself or for an audience, I’m here to help you make the guitar your own.

My teaching approach is centered around making guitar learning enjoyable, creative, and effective. I guide students from the basics to advanced levels by building strong foundations in chords, rhythm, and melody. I focus on helping each student find their own musical voice while mastering the core techniques of guitar playing.
I incorporate a variety of genres including rock, pop, blues, classical, and folk to keep lessons exciting and flexible. Students explore acoustic and electric guitar styles, with an emphasis on both fingerstyle and strumming techniques. We work on ear training, improvisation, and music theory in simple, practical ways that support creative growth.
Technical skills like chord transitions, scales, and picking patterns are taught step-by-step with real song examples. I encourage students who love strumming around a fire or diving into the soul of blues, guiding them to sharpen their sound and express themselves with confidence. Songwriting, soloing, and performance prep are also part of the journey for those who want to go further.
Each lesson is tailored to the student’s pace and goals. I provide regular feedback, structured practice plans, and a supportive space to grow. My goal is to help students fall in love with the guitar and enjoy every step of their musical journey.
