About Kiril
My name is Kiril Boshikyov, a classical guitarist, tutor, composer, arranger and a graduate of the Royal College of Music, London. I specialised in classical guitar under Professors Gary Ryan and Charles Ramirez, with additional studies in lute, conducting, jazz composition, and improvisation. I currently teach online and have previously taught at Lady Margaret School, Lycée International de Londres Winston Churchill, Fireworks Music School, and London Music Centre -London, UK. I also offer private lessons and regularly lead masterclasses and educational concerts. As a performer and composer, I have been honoured with numerous awards at prestigious international competitions. These include first prizes at the GCC International Guitar Festival in China, where I won the 6th Composition Competition and publishing with Les productions d'Oz . I also earned first prize at the Balkan Classical Guitar Festival in Bulgaria, where I was recognised as the best performer of Bulgarian compositions. At the Marin Goleminov International Guitar Competition in Bulgaria, I won first prizes in both solo and chamber music categories, as well as a special award from the Dimitri Fampas Association in Greece. Additionally, I was an awarded and published finalist at the 2nd Portugal International Guitar Composition Competition in Seixal, chaired by Leo Brouwer. Beyond these top awards, I have been a finalist and received special mentions at several other international guitar and composition competitions, reflecting my commitment to both performance excellence and creative composition. My teaching approach combines rigorous technical development with a deep focus on musicality and creativity, tailored to each student’s goals. I work with beginners through to diploma-level candidates, including those preparing for ABRSM and Trinity examinations or aiming for advanced study and performance.

While many students initially find the idea of learning music notation or theory daunting — especially when aiming to play more advanced repertoire — my teaching approach is designed to make these concepts clear, approachable, and immediately applicable. With over 13 years of experience, I’ve refined a methodology that breaks down complex material into manageable, practical steps. In just a few lessons, students gain the confidence and understanding needed to progress quickly. It’s not uncommon for my students to go from complete beginners to passing their Grade 5 exam within a year — a process that traditionally takes several years. Under my guidance (and with the right dedication and practice from the student), some have gone on to achieve university-level music qualifications or successfully complete their LRSM diplomas by the age of 15. I work with both the ABRSM and Trinity syllabuses, tailoring lessons to suit individual goals. For those interested in creativity and self-expression, I also draw on my background as a composer to help students explore writing their own music once they’ve built a solid foundation on their instrument. Thanks to recent advances in online teaching tools and my professional setup (including high-quality audio, multi-angle cameras, and screen sharing for theory work), students enjoy an experience that’s just as engaging and productive as in-person lessons—often more so. There's no travel time or location barrier, which means more consistency in learning and easier scheduling for busy families. Plus, online lessons can be recorded on request, giving students the chance to review key points between sessions and reinforce their progress.

Kiril has been teaching my daughter classical guitar for 2 years now and I genuinely can’t recommend him enough! His approach to teaching is to patiently nurture the musician within. He does so much more than instruct and prepare my daughter for music exams - he faithfully helps and inspires her to develop her love of music and composition, as well as her unique relationship with her instrument. He continues to be pivotal in her journey as a musician!
Kiril has been teaching my daughter classical guitar for the past two years, and I truly cannot recommend him highly enough. His teaching style goes far beyond simply preparing students for exams — he patiently nurtures the musician within, fostering both skill and confidence. Kiril has been instrumental not only in developing my daughter’s technical abilities but also in inspiring her love for music, composition, and her own unique connection to the instrument. His encouragement and dedication have been pivotal in her growth as a young musician, and I’m incredibly grateful for the role he continues to play in her musical journey.
We’ve known Kiril for over 10 years, and he has been an outstanding teacher for our son. Kiril brings real discipline, depth, and dedication to every lesson and doesn’t watch the clock. His commitment to his students’ progress is truly exceptional.
Kiril is calm, focused, and an immensely gifted musician, having won awards and judged competitions himself. He expects his students to put in the work — and they do, because they know he’s equally invested in their growth. He teaches with care, clarity, and integrity, and it’s clear he genuinely wants his students to do well.
If you’re looking for a teacher who takes the craft seriously, brings out the best in his students, and is deeply respected for both his musicianship and teaching, I couldn’t recommend Kiril more highly.View more recommendations
