About James
I'm James Hayto and I’m a guitar teacher with decades of experience performing and recording at the highest level. My credits as a guitarist include George Michael, Tina Turner, Massive Attack and Kylie Minogue, whom I toured with for five years. Alongside my performing career, I’ve been teaching guitar for over 30 years and also run my own music school. I’ve recently relocated to the Brighton area and am now looking to take on more private students. I’m happy to teach from my home in Lewes or travel to you in the surrounding areas, including Brighton. I hold an up-to-date Enhanced DBS (on the update service).

I teach all ages and abilities – from complete beginners to advanced players – and offer a friendly, patient and tailored approach to each student. Whether you want to learn your favourite songs, prepare for Classical or Rock & Pop guitar exams, or simply play for enjoyment, I’ll support you every step of the way. I can coach songwriting and singing/playing as well. I work with both children and adults and take pride in creating a comfortable, encouraging learning environment. My lessons are always tailored to the individual, and several of my students have been with me for over five years – a reflection of the care and commitment I bring to teaching.
