About Piama
Hi! I’m Piama, a designer, creative director, creative coach and educator with nearly 20 years of experience shaping visual narratives that do more than just look good—they make an impact. My career has spanned branding, graphic design and immersive storytelling for arts, culture and social impact organizations, working with companies like MoMA, National Geographic and University of Maryland. My teaching approach is rooted in people-centered design, blending research, intuition and storytelling to help students develop their own creative voice. Whether you’re a beginner looking to build strong design fundamentals or a working designer ready to refine your craft, I’ll guide you through real-world techniques, industry insights and hands-on projects that push beyond the ordinary. I believe design is a powerful force for connection, culture-shifting and community-building. Let’s explore how to create work that resonates, challenges and lasts. I’d love to help you grow as a designer—let’s get started!

I believe learning design should be hands-on, fun and tailored to your unique creative goals. My approach is all about real-world application—whether you’re a beginner looking to master the basics or a working designer wanting to refine your skills or navigate a particular challenge.
Lessons are structured around your interests and needs, but a typical session might include: breaking down design principles, critiquing real-world examples, working through a live project together, and discussing creative strategies that go beyond just making things look good or technically sound. I love sharing industry insights, storytelling techniques and branding insights that I’ve learned over 15+ years working in-house and freelancer for a range of arts, culture and social impact clients.
I work with students of all levels—from total beginners to professionals looking to elevate their design thinking and process. Whether you want to improve your layout skills, craft a standout portfolio, or develop a unique creative voice, I’m here to support. Let’s make something great together!
