About Mr

I am currently a resident in Manhattan, but I've also lived in countries like Australia and India, where I'm originally from. My tutoring journey began in Australia when I was in 10th grade, as mathematics has always been my strength and I enjoyed problem-solving and teaching my friends. In India, during 9th grade, I discovered my passion for tutoring by teaching my friends' younger siblings. Currently, I am a senior in high school, on track to graduate with an advanced regent diploma. Alongside my studies, I teach basic algebra and trigonometry to freshmen and sophomores.

I joined my current high school in February 2023 as a junior, and I only had 3 to 4 months to prepare for the regents. However, I bravely chose to take 7 regents, including Algebra 1, Algebra 2/Trigonometry, and Geometry. I achieved scores of 83 in Algebra 1, 82 in Algebra 2, and 85 in Geometry. Although I had expected scores above 90 in all these subjects, I was still satisfied and proud of myself given the limited time I had to prepare. Currently, as a senior, I am enrolled in AP Pre-Calculus and AP Calculus AB classes.

Teaching methods and techniques:
1. Diagnostic Assessment: Looking over the student's past
papers and homework, This will help understand the
student's areas of strength and areas needing
improvement, guiding the direction of instruction.

2. Individualized Learning Plan: Develop a customized
learning plan based on the student's unique needs,
learning style, and pace of learning. Set specific learning
goals and objectives to address the student's areas of
challenge and provide a roadmap for instruction.

3. Scaffolded Instruction: Break down complex
mathematical concepts into smaller, manageable steps,
gradually increasing the level of difficulty as the student
progresses. Provide scaffolding support, such as visual
aids, prompts, or guided practice, to help the student
master each step before moving on.

4. Problem-Solving Practice: Engage the student in
relevant problem and solving activities
meaningful to their interests and experiences. Present a
variety of problems of varying difficulty levels,
encouraging the student to apply mathematical
concepts and strategies to solve them.

5. Technology Integration: Incorporate technology tools
such as educational software, interactive simulations, or
online math games to enhance instruction and provide
interactive learning experiences. Utilize educational apps
or digital resources tailored to the student's learning
needs and interests.

6. Unit Quiz: Students must give a Unit test after each Unit
taught.

Typical Lesson Plan:
1. I'll begin by reviewing past test papers, or if unavailable,
I'll create a quiz. Then, I'll assess the student's strengths
and weaknesses. My focus will be on addressing these
areas while teaching new material while also revisiting past
problems or mistakes to ensure thorough understanding.

2. I'll establish a study plan and set goals before each
class. If the classes aren't meeting these goals, I'll request
additional time at no extra cost.

3. I'll provide virtual tutoring to the student. However, if the
student is located in Manhattan/New York City, I can offer
in-person tutoring at no extra cost.

4. Teaching will start with me explaining the lesson to the
student and demonstrating how to solve equations or
problems. Then, I'll provide similar questions for the student
to solve in front of me. If the student struggles with certain
topics, I'll utilize videos or websites to provide visual aids
for better understanding.

5. Homework is crucial for learning. I'll assign homework that
should take about 30 minutes to complete. During class, the
students will explain how they solved the homework to me.
This is to ensure they haven't used AI or other websites to
complete the work. Even if they have used AI, I expect them
to understand the problem and identify their mistakes
rather than simply copying and pasting answers.

6. I'll prepare the student for any upcoming school quizzes or
tests by reviewing the material I've been teaching them. If
It occurs to me that the student needs some more time, I'll be
happy to give some more time to the student or even do two
classes on the same day.

7. If for some reason I'm unable to administer their quiz, and
they're confident in their understanding of the concept, I'll
expect them to explain it to me.

8. A unit quiz will be conducted for the student after every
unit or chapter I've taught. I expect them to achieve a score
of 75% or higher on these tests, and I'll communicate these
grades to the parents.

9. While teaching new topics in mathematics, I'll also create
tests for the concepts I've previously taught the student. This
ensures they retain past knowledge, which in turn helps
them understand future units.

About myself and Tutoring:
1. I provide FIRST WEEK OF FREE TUTORING for parents to
assess my teaching capability with their child. It also
allows me to determine if I can effectively teach the
student.

2. I am available to teach the student for a maximum of 2
hours per class, 3 days a week. My availability spans from
12 pm to 12 am, including Saturdays, Sundays, and
weekdays.

3. I can teach students from 3rd - 10th grade.
