About AB
As a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill with a minor in English, I have a strong passion for reading, writing, and the power of language. My goal as a tutor is to help students not only improve their academic skills but also become more confident and enthusiastic learners.
I specialize in working with middle school and high school students, but I welcome learners of all ages and skill levels. Whether you need help with an essay, literary analysis, reading comprehension, grammar, or simply want to become a stronger writer, I will tailor each lesson to your individual needs and goals.
I believe that every student can succeed when given the right support and encouragement. My lessons are patient, engaging, and focused on helping students develop skills they can carry with them throughout their academic careers. I look forward to helping you discover greater confidence and enjoyment in English!

My approach to tutoring is centered on making English engaging, approachable, and relevant to each student. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions, exploring ideas, and developing their own voice as readers and writers. Rather than simply giving students the answers, I guide them through the process so they build the skills and confidence to succeed independently.
Teaching Method & Techniques
I tailor my teaching style to each student's needs, learning style, and goals. Depending on the student, lessons may include close reading, discussion, writing exercises, grammar practice, vocabulary development, essay planning, and revision. I focus on breaking down challenging concepts into manageable steps and using examples that connect to the student's interests.
A Typical Lesson
A typical lesson begins by reviewing what the student is currently working on and identifying any areas where they need support. We then focus on a specific skill or assignment, working through examples together before having the student practice independently. I provide constructive feedback throughout the lesson and finish by reviewing what we've accomplished and identifying the next steps for improvement.
What Sets Me Apart
What sets me apart is my genuine enthusiasm for English and my goal of helping students develop a lasting appreciation for reading and writing—not simply improve a grade. I want students to become confident communicators who understand how powerful language can be. I also strive to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and finding their own voice.

I work with students at all levels, with a particular focus on middle school and high school students. I can help with English and literature courses, reading comprehension, writing and essay development, grammar, vocabulary, literary analysis, and general academic support. I am also happy to work with students who simply want to become stronger, more confident readers and writers.
