Ann Wu is a wonderful teacher of the Mandarin ( Chinese ) language. Mrs. Wu was teaching Mandarin at The San Luis Obispo Unified School District Adult Education offices when My son first met Ann Wu while she was the principal instructor of Mandarin education at the school. My son, under the guidance and instruction of Ann Wu my son, excelled in his comprehension and writing of the Mandarin language. He increased his understanding of simple, traditional, and Pinyin characters, word recognition, vocabulary, grammar, and syntax or sentence structure. By the end of the first semester, my son was able to write full paragraphs of thoughts and read them out loud in the class that was filled with people who had little to no previous Mandarin instruction through the spectrum of students who were retired professors that wanted to learn Mandarin along with people who have lived in China and wanted a more profound command of the Mandarin language. Ann Wu was loved by the whole class of students! In addition to the standard teaching materials of learning the Mandarin language, Ann Wu was able to supplement the information naturally because of her being born and raised in China. Ann was able to give her students very insightful help to sound more like a Chinese person would speak. Along with the knowledge gained from being raised in China, this was a huge advantage for my son, Ann is a gifted educator. Ann truly enjoys helping others to learn and succeed. It is for these aforementioned reasons, and many more, that I highly recommend Ann Wu if you want to have an excellent teacher and learn all that you can about Chinese Mandarin! Ann began teaching my son Mandarin Chinese in 2012 when he was 7 years old. Through textbooks, interactive games and teacher created materials, she peaked his interest for the Chinese language. With her patience and encouragement my son has continued to improve his reading, writing, speaking and listening skills over the past 11 years. At 17 years old, he was awarded a full summer scholarship to study overseas and felt confident and prepared in a fully immersive environment.
