About Sarah
First and foremost, I am an artist. I currently, and for the past 4 years have worked as a classroom teacher as well, instructing students in the fine arts. I have worked with all kinds of people with varying abilities and skill levels. As both an artist and a teacher, I prioritize process over product. Learning and creating will always take precedent. My philosophy as a teacher are to provide my students with the tools to accomplish their vision the way they want it, whether or not we have similar styles.

I’ve been teaching fine arts and photography to people of all ages for 5 years now, and it’s truly something I enjoy. I am happy to meet students where they are at, whether or not they have ever picked up a camera . Sometimes a new medium can be daunting, especially one requiring gear and equipment. My goal is to help you learn photography in a thorough, but not overwhelming, way. I take an approach that forms a solid understanding of the basics and builds on each concept. At the end of the day, I want to see my students feeling comfortable enough with their photography skills that they begin to develop their own style and voice, and be able to guide them as they go. One of my proudest moments is receiving messages from students who picked up a camera for the first time in my class, and hearing that they are still in love with the medium and making work.
My back ground is in fine arts with an emphasis in photography, both film and digital and I frequently work with photoshop.
