About Fatima
I am a recent graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health and minors in English and Biological Sciences. Throughout my academic and professional experiences, writing has remained one of my greatest strengths and passions. I have extensive experience with academic writing, research papers, analytical writing, and personal statements at both the undergraduate and graduate level.
Having been a student myself, I understand that writing can sometimes feel overwhelming or intimidating. Because of this, I aim to create a learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, developing their ideas, and improving their skills with confidence.
In addition to my academic background, I have experience working in professional and community-based settings that required strong communication, editing, and organizational skills. These experiences have strengthened my ability to provide thoughtful, constructive feedback while adapting to different learning styles and goals.

As a tutor, my goal is to establish a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable developing their writing skills and expressing their ideas. I believe strong writing comes from understanding how to communicate clearly, think critically, and develop a personal voice, rather than simply memorizing grammar rules or formulas. My goal is to help students become stronger, more independent writers over time.
My teaching approach is highly individualized and collaborative. I work closely with students to identify their strengths, areas for improvement, and personal academic goals. These goals may also change over time as I work with the student, and formulate a better understanding of how they approach writing.
Depending on the student’s needs, lessons may focus on essay structure, thesis development, grammar and syntax, analytical writing, proofreading techniques, reading comprehension, or improving clarity and flow. Rather than simply correcting mistakes for students, I guide them through the editing and revision process so they can understand why changes improve their writing and learn how to apply those skills independently in future assignments. Throughout every step of the process, I want to ensure the student has agency in their learning, and I believe such an approach not only improves the student's writing, but also allows them to build confidence in their work.
