I am a dedicated Literature and TOK teacher in the IB Diploma Programme, with a strong academic background in General and Comparative Literature and ongoing Master’s studies. My work is grounded in professionalism, clarity, and deep respect for each student’s individual learning journey. As a tutor, I focus on creating a supportive, structured, and intellectually engaging learning environment where students feel confident to explore ideas and develop their own voice. I prioritize critical thinking, clarity of expression, and genuine understanding over memorization. My approach combines discussion-based learning, scaffolded guidance, and interactive activities tailored to each student’s needs. I teach Literature and TOK in the IB Diploma Programme, so I understand the curriculum, assessment criteria, and expectations deeply.
Methods I use:
Inquiry-based learning: I guide students with targeted questions that help them uncover meaning, make connections, and think independently.
Close reading strategies: We analyze texts through structure, language, themes, and context, learning how to identify literary techniques and interpret them effectively.
Modeling and scaffolding: I demonstrate analytical thinking step by step (e.g., how to structure a paragraph, thesis, or essay), then gradually shift responsibility to the student.
Socratic dialogue: Lessons often involve open discussion that encourages students to justify their interpretations with evidence.
Differentiated instruction: I adjust the pace, focus, and style of teaching based on each student’s level, goals, and strengths.
TOK-focused thinking: For TOK, I help students develop nuanced arguments, understand knowledge frameworks, and explore perspectives with clarity and depth.
