About Astala
I graduated with Honours in Political Science and English Literature with a Magna Cum Laude. I have been teaching students at the undergraduate level and at the graduate level formally for the past year. I held paid positions as teaching assistants for three university professors where I taught students in different years the intricacies of the subject material. Students I have personally worked with have an average grade of an A- across the four academically intensive, university-level, courses.

I have taught both undergraduate and graduate students across different subject areas both in groups and one-on-one sessions. My lesson structure is a mix of "lecture-style" for less than a half of the class, and a dynamic discussion-oriented session for the rest of the class. In the lectures that I teach, I aim to provide students with a theoretical grounding in the subject and any relevant background knowledge. Then, I usually put out questions for reflection that everyone reflects upon for the rest of the class. I also assign short readings that help my students understand the topic further. Listening, reading, and discussions are what I foster in order to enable my students to engage critically with the material in question. I also hold office hours on a weekly basis for students to approach me with any specific conceptual or technical doubts.
