About Christine
I earned my Bachelor's in Music Education (specializing in vocal music) from Loyola University New Orleans College of Music back in 2003. I have sung in numerous church and chamber choirs since, nerd-out over music with friends in the music scene, and enjoy conducting to my favorite anime soundtracks while driving my car.

I first assess where students are: What they are learning, what they understand, what they are having trouble with, where they want to get to. From there, I create a plan to overcome hurdles and give students solid understanding of how music works.
A typical lesson would start with a review of previous progress: What questions does the student have? What have they retained? What is still causing confusion?
From there, we tackle the next topic. I check in with the student - what might they already know (or think they know)? I explain the concept, and then we run through a few exercises to ensure that the student truly does "get" it.
What sets me apart is that I'm more responsive to student needs: I don't come in with a set curriculum. I instead meet the students where they are. Generally, I prefer a Socratic method when possible, asking questions of students to prompt them to think through musical problems and possible solutions.
My lessons are for students who want to truly understand music. Students need to be able and interested in thinking through the way music intersects math, acoustic science, and human psychology. For this reason, students generally should be in high school, or at a high-school or higher level of development.
My own background is as a singer, other singing musicians may well connect with me best.
