About Libby
If you take my classes, you'll learn about new artists. You'll come away knowing how to talk about art and investigate deeper meaning while carving out your own creative path. I've taught art in the classroom for 4 years, and each year I find out something new about my students. I'm excited to get to know you and your interests, especially so that I can help you become the artist you're meant to be.

I like to introduce projects around a specific artist and teach students what the artwork is about. We will look at artwork by contemporary and historical artists, discuss what we see in their art, and make social emotional connections. I show a demonstration on techniques employed in the artist's work, and then we create a project using those techniques. Some techniques include pointillism, collage, or symbolism. I encourage students to be creative, modify the project to tailor it to their interests, and use demonstrated techniques to improve their craftsmanship. I am most experienced working with middle schoolers and elementary schoolers, but also have experience teaching high school as well.
