About Swedelia
Who am I? I am an NZ born Cook Islander who holds a teaching degree in PhysEd. I am now based in Auckland, New Zealand working as a Student Support Advisor at Te Wananga o Aotearoa. I used to play Women’s competitive basketball for Canterbury University. I love food, especially Filipino food. Why do I want to teach? I am passionate about education and inspiring learners.

I tailor my lessons to my students and I like to check prior knowledge first and what students hope to learn from a lesson. Gradually, building their knowledge and understanding from there onwards. The way I teach will be informed by my students and how they learn best. By creating a safe, comfortable, calm, nonjudgmental, and respectful learning environment, students can ask any questions they like. I also aim to inspire and increase learner confidence.
