About Leah
Hi! I'm Leah, a recent BA graduate from UCL. As a long-time lover of literature and reading, I encourage my students to discover the niche of fiction/non-fiction/dramatic writing they enjoy as their pathway into engaging academically with literature.
Having worked with many GCSE and A-Level English Literature students (and having done the exams myself!), I understand the workload & expectations this subject can hold, but I have developed tried & tested methods to make all aspects of the curriculum an easy pill to swallow. Planning sessions will be a dialogue between tutor & tutee - we'll establish what you want to achieve by [insert deadline] & the specific steps in each session we wish to achieve it.
I have been tutoring English Literature up to A-Level since March 2025, with 100% of my GCSE level students achieving 9s in English Literature.
My aim is to avoid as much out of session work as possible, and my approach to literature is to see where the text sparks analytical conversation. Discussion and critical thinking are the foundations we'll work from to build and develop your analytical and essay writing skills.
I'm aware Shakespeare in particular can be a daunting aspect of English Literature for many students, so I have more accessible, theatre-based approaches to his works to remove the 'mystery' of his language, and to encourage students to not only understand, but enjoy & connect with the plays they encounter.
