About Edward
I am an experienced educator with 7 years of classroom teaching experience, a Bachelor’s degree in Intervention, and a Master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction. I currently specialize in 3rd–5th grade math intervention and have 17 years of experience coaching middle school students.
My goal is to make learning approachable, engaging, and meaningful for every student. I understand that students do not all learn the same way, and I take the time to identify each student’s strengths, learning gaps, and individual needs.
I believe students learn best when they feel supported and confident. My lessons are patient, encouraging, and focused on helping students understand the “why” behind what they are learning; not simply memorizing steps or finding the right answer.
Whether your child needs help strengthening foundational math skills, catching up with grade-level expectations, completing homework, or building confidence in math, I will provide personalized instruction designed specifically for them.
I look forward to helping your child grow academically, build confidence, and discover that they are capable of more than they may realize.

My approach to tutoring is student-centered, encouraging, and focused on building both skills and confidence. With 7 years of classroom teaching experience, a Bachelor’s degree in Intervention, and a Master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction, I understand that students learn in different ways and at different paces.
I currently specialize in 3rd–5th grade math intervention, so I have experience identifying learning gaps, breaking challenging concepts into manageable steps, and providing students with strategies they can use independently.
I don’t believe in simply giving students the answer. Instead, I ask questions, model strategies, provide guided practice, and gradually release responsibility so students learn how to solve problems on their own.
A Typical Lesson
Each lesson is tailored to the individual student, but I generally begin by reviewing previous skills and identifying what the student understands and where they are struggling.
From there, I will:
Introduce or review the skill using clear, age-appropriate explanations
Model the skill step-by-step
Work through problems together with guided practice
Give the student opportunities to practice independently
Correct misconceptions and provide immediate feedback
Finish by reviewing what we learned and identifying what we should work on next
My goal is for students to leave each lesson understanding not only what the answer is, but how and why they arrived at it.
What Sets Me Apart
I bring both classroom teaching experience and 17 years of coaching experience to my tutoring. Coaching has taught me the importance of patience, encouragement, accountability, and meeting students where they are.
I understand that struggling academically can affect a student’s confidence. I work to create an environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and trying again.
Most importantly, I want students to become more confident and independent learners—not dependent on a tutor.
Who I Work With
I primarily work with students in 3rd–5th grade, particularly students who need additional support in mathematics or who are struggling to master grade-level skills.
I am especially interested in working with students who benefit from:
Math intervention
Remediation of foundational math skills
Homework and classwork support
Test preparation
Building math confidence
Individualized instruction based on specific learning gaps
Whether a student needs help catching up, strengthening foundational skills, or becoming more confident with grade-level math, I will meet them where they are and help them work toward where they need to be.
