About Ben
80% of my students report increased skill and confidence in reading and writing. I have gotten to witness the growth of students who could barely write a coherent paragraph becoming young scholars who can write thorough and complete essays on topics ranging from figurative language to literary and character analysis, and both informational and argumentative texts. I've witnessed my students go from hating reading to excitedly pouring through Shakespearean poems and full novels. Nothing makes me happier than seeing a student's eyes light up when they realize the intelligence they have far outweighs what they give themselves credit for. I have worked with students of all ages, but my degree is specifically in middle and high school English.

I use a highly individualized approach to teaching. The best way to grow as a reader and writer is to use what you are already interested in to expand your knowledge base. Because of this, I take great care to understand not only where you are in your education journey, but also where you want to be, how you want to get there, and how you can have the most enjoyment along the way. I also need to get to know you as a person to learn how to incorporate reading and writing into what you are already interested in.
