About Eugenio
I was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I began to play violin when I was 4 years old with Professor Susan Ashby. At 8 years old, I started studying in the strings program of the Puerto Rico Music Conservatory with Professor Dara Burkholder Morales, Assistant Principal Second Violin at Philadelphia Orchestra. At the age of 12, I entered Ernesto Ramos Antonini Music School in San Juan, Puerto Rico with the teacher Ramonita Leandry, from which I graduated in 2009. Then I entered the music program of the University of Puerto Rico, where I studied with Professor Dr. Ernesto Alonso and Professor Fernando Medina, taking a bachelor's degree in music in 2016. Then in 2016, I entered the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico to study Violin Performance with Professor Omar Velázquez, Concert Master at the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra, and I studied violin with Violinist Performer Aubree Oliverson for two years. During my development as a violinist up to the present, I have always sought to explore different musical genres, having experience playing Classical Music, Jazz, Latin Jazz, Salsa, and the Culture music of Puerto Rico. In 2010, I performed in the Mayaguez Jazz Festival. In 2012, I performed at Ponce Jazz Festival. On January 19, 2016, I performed with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Puerto Rico in the second violins section with the conductor Roselyn Pabón. In 2017, I performed at Puerto Rico Jazz Series. In 2018 and 2019, I participated in the program Symphonic Experience with the Puerto Rico Symphony Orchestra in the first violins section with the conductors Maximiano Valdés and Rafael Enrique Irizarry. In 2018, I went to study and perform at Clazz International Music Festival in Arcidosso, Italy. In 2018 and 2019, I went to the Puerto Rico Summer Music Festival. In 2019, I was the Concert Master at PUCPR String Summer Festival. In 2019, I went to study and perform at Sommerakademie in Biel, Switzerland. I was accepted at the Orchestra of the Americas OA 2020. Since 2015, I have been a violinist of the Puerto Rico Youth Symphony Orchestra, of which since 2018 to 2022, I had the privilege of serving as Concert Master under the Direction of Maestro Carlos Avila. I was part of The Virgin Islands-Puerto Rico Friendship Chamber Orchestra with Gylchris Sprauve, Music Director of the orchestra, in 2022 and 2023. Fourth chair of the first violin section at the University of Minnesota Summer Orchestra 2024 with the conductors David Carrillo and James T. Chang. Second violins with Loyola University Symphony of New Orleans on September 28, 2024, with the conductor Dr. Jean Montes. First violins with the New Orleans Symphony on October 18, 2024, with the conductors J. Calloway and Sofia Riggio. First violins with the New Orleans Civic Symphony on October 20, 2024, with the conductors Steven Edwards and Taylor Brownfield. Second violins with the Lansdowne Symphony Orchestra on December 8, 2024, with the conductor Reuben Blundell.

It’s good to play an instrument for the mind and everything in life. You learn to be disciplined and develop some structure to achieve your goals. With music, for me, it is very important to take time to improvise and see how you move and react when you don’t have another option but to just improvise.
